University Housing is committed to creating a culture of sustainability among its students and staff. UGA Housing sponsors educational programs such as an online sustainability newsletter, an environmental film series, the Green Cup competition, Dawgs Ditch the Dumpster and Donate move-out program, and a sustainable living pledge for residents and staff members. Every UGA Housing Community has a student EcoRep to help educate and inspire residents to engage in the local community and embrace a more sustainable lifestyle.

The LEED Gold certified residence hall Building 1516 on UGA’s East Campus provides a tangible expression of sustainable design, providing students and staff who live and work there first-hand experience in sustainable living.  All residence halls include bicycle racks, convenient options for recycling, energy and water conservation measures, and more.
