UGA faculty from all disciplines are invited to participate in the 6th Annual Faculty Development Workshop, Integration of Sustainability Across the Curriculum, focused on integrating sustainability into the curriculum on May 9th, 2017.
This one-day faculty-led workshop will provide inspiration, strategies, and examples for engaging students to prepare them to address the challenges of sustainability in their professional, civic, and personal lives, regardless of discipline. The workshop provides opportunities for cross-disciplinary interaction, definitions and examples of sustainability education, discussion of learning outcomes and student engagement, and tours of on-campus sustainability resources. Opportunities to engage students in experiential learning will be highlighted. This workshop also provides an opportunity to tailor existing or new courses so they qualify for the Interdisciplinary Sustainability Certificate. Participants will have the summer to revise an existing syllabus or create a new one.
Faculty Development Grants of $500 are available for up to 20 participants who attend the workshop and submit a revised or new syllabus to incorporate sustainability. Applications are accepted from all current UGA faculty. Completed applications should be emailed to email@example.com by the application deadline, March 20th, 2017.
This workshop is coordinated and run by the Committee for the Integration of Sustainability across the Curriculum, administered by the UGA Office of Sustainability with support from the Odum School of Ecology, the Center for Teaching and Learning, and the Office of the Vice President for Instruction
