Goal: Reduce inequality within and among countries

UGA is working to address UN Sustainable Development Goals through focused research, teaching, service, and stewardship on campus, across the state, and around the globe. Some examples of how students, faculty, and staff are addressing Goal #10 are listed below.

Disability Resource Center

The Disability Resource Center helps educate and serve students with disabilities who qualify for admission to UGA. In addition to ensuring equal educational opportunities as required by the ADA and other legislation, the DRC strives to promote a welcoming academic, physical, and social environment for students with disabilities at UGA.

All Georgia Program

The ALL Georgia Program supports UGA students from rural areas with a network of resources, including first-year common experiences such as Thrive, Dawg Camp, and an innovative course that focuses on strategies for success. The ALL Georgia Scholarship Program provides financial aid for six outstanding students from rural parts of Georgia each year.

Social Justice Symposium

Organized by students in the School of Social Work, the Social Justice Symposium brings together people throughout the state, including students and other University and community members, to plan solutions to bring equality, human rights, and equity to local communities. Topics include money management, disability empowerment, community displacement, mental health, and immigration law, among others. Several nonprofit organizations are represented.

Georgia Commitment Scholarship Program

The Georgia Commitment Scholars Program is a need-based scholarship program that is open to first-year undergraduate students. The scholarship is renewable for up to four years and comes with a variety of programs and resources to support student success. Since the program was established in 2017, more than 600 endowed, need-based scholarships have been created.
