• The Worn Wear program celebrates the stories we wear, keeps your gear in action longer and provides an easy way to recycle garments when they’re beyond repair.

To celebrate reuse and repair, the UGA Office of Sustainability has partnered with Patagonia and others to host the Worn Wear College Tour and UGA's Zero Waste Extravaganza.

Bring your used clothing to Tate Plaza (10:00-2:00) to be repaired at no charge, learn about zero waste from community organizations, Tate Grand Hall from 6:30-8:30 for a UGA Signature Lecture and reception by Rick Ridgeway, Adam Werbach, and Scott Briscoe. Ridgeway is the Vice-President of Environmental Affairs at Patagonia Clothing Company, Werbach is a former President of the Sierra Club. Briscoe is a member of the first African American team to climb Mt. Denali and an adventure sport enthusiast.

UGA Signature Lectures feature speakers noted for their broad, multidisciplinary appeal and compelling bodies of work. Many of the lectures are supported by endowments, while others honor notable figures and milestones in the university’s history.

Please bring the following items to donate at the Zero Waste Extravaganza:

  • warm clothes
  • knitting supplies
  • cards and stationary

  • resuable canvas bags

  • plastic tubs
  • kids coloring pages
