We're committed to developing inspired leaders, stronger communities, and thriving natural systems. We offer paid internships, Campus Sustainability Grants, scholarships to study abroad, an Interdisciplinary Certificate in Sustainability - and other opportunities to engage with students, faculty, and staff who are passionate about people, the environment, and tangible solutions for a better future.

Enroll in the Interdisciplinary Certificate in Sustainability.

Certificates are like interdisciplinary minors. The Sustainability Certificate can support any academic major - from art to finance, journalism to landscape architecture - equipping students with skills to make significant, systemic changes toward a sustainable future.

Want to make a tangible difference, grow personally and professionally… and get paid?

Apply for an internship in the Office of Sustainability.

Interns typically work 10 hours per week and get hands-on experience and leadership training to help create an increasingly sustainable campus and community.

Want to travel the world, embracing sustainable practices to enhance health and wellbeing?

UGA offers so many exciting opportunities to learn and grow through global engagement. We offer two $1,000 scholarships annually to help you get there through the Brittney Fox Watts Scholarship for Study Abroad in Sustainability.

Think it’s uncool to be wasteful?

Good! We do, too. Here’s a list of what can and cannot be recycled on campus.

Got compost? We have bins for that. Talk to your RA in Housing or the department head of your academic program to request one for your building.

Want to get your hands dirty, grow food, and help others?

Volunteer with UGArden or Campus Kitchen.

UGA’s student-run organic farm provides fresh produce to fuel student-powered hunger relief in Athens!

Going Greek? Go Green!

Greek Goes Green is a sustainability movement within Greek life at UGA. You can help your chapter reduce waste and nourish people and the planet!

Wouldn't it be cool if there was a free thrift store on campus? (There is!)

The Swap Shop at UGA is student-run., and all items are free! You can shop for clothes or household items or donate your gently used items for others to enjoy!

Looking for a profesional outfit for that upcoming interview? Visit the Professional Clothing Closet. Each student is eligible for one free outfit per academic year!

Campus is big with much to do, but there’s also an amazing community just beyond campus borders. Support our local businesses (including these black-owned businesses).

Athens has a great local food scene, with a plethora of farm to table restaurants for any palate. Also support local farmers at West Broad Market Garden, Athens Farmers Market, Athens Locally Grown, Collective Harvest, and other local venues.
